Where to begin about Dave? I first worked with him in the early 90s and undoubtedly he became one of the best, most reliable and decent colleagues I ever had. We shared a lot as you know, we put the Media dept together from scratch and watched it develop and grow. We were tasked with shifting all the Eng dept stock across school – a huge amount of reading material from a number of sources, dusty storerooms where I don’t think anything had been moved for decades. Dave hated spiders which made it eventful. Too many parents / open evenings shared, his good humour and spirits always made them tolerable, even enjoyable.
Personally as a friend we shared a huge number of bands / acts in common, and I am grateful for him turning me on to so much great music. We went to some of the best gigs I’ve ever been to together, and I always knew I could rely on him for a chat about which was the best McCartney album and the merits of The Frog Chorus, or not, depending upon mood.
I won’t miss the school stuff, but I am already missing the music bond, so much of it reminds me of Dave, which is a good thing. He will not be forgotten by all who knew him, and certainly not me.
