Dave and I met on our first day of college at St. john’s York in B Block at Lord Mayors Walk. Our Friendship lasted over 36 years where he and Zoe were our loyal and trusted friends I last saw him just over a year ago, some 35 years later . He and Andy turner travelled to Haxey on a very wet weekend camping with my brothers to watch the Rugby World Cup Quarter finals. We were quite different characters with different tastes, especially in Music which I always gave him shit for , describing it as music to slit my wrists to! Dave was always bailing me out of tricky situations whether it was covering for me when missing lectures or after regrettable encounters with fellow students. He got me my first job at Pizza hut in York where he taught me the values of teamwork and the art of the deep pan pizza. Dave was a great listener, nonjudgmental, empathetic , taking my side , even when not warranted which was more often than not. Dave was the very best of best men having successfully and responsibly carrying out the role on more than a few occasions for myself , Rob, Stuart, Keith and other college friends. Unfortunately this duty wasn’t returned as on his stag we strapped a stuffed toy donkey to him for the whole evening. Our friendship was one of those which could last a years without contract then meeting up as if it were just yesterday, picking right up from where we left off. Dave was a genuine kind friend who will be missed dearly. Zoe should take some small comfort in knowing that Dave was loved by all who knew him Rest In Peace Cookie
